I had the enjoyable opportunity to visit the Chincoteague Pony Penning July 25th 2007. Here are some pictures for your enjoyment.  Perhaps you will want to go next year.

There was a great showing of every possible waterborne law enforcement agency.  I suspect there were well over 40 law enforcement watercraft that I saw!

 

 

The Salt Water Cowboys ride horses to round up the ponies and get them to cross a few hundred feet of water.  The ponies then go to the Pony Penning where some are auctioned off and the proceeds fund the local fire department. There were quite a few Coast Guard in various boats.

 

 

This is from our boat, about half way of the short path for the ponies to swim.  Here we are looking at the destination shore for the ponies.

Lots of boats anchored and watching from both sides of the narrow swim channel which was also quite narrow.  We waited for dead low tide, with no current, for the benefit of the ponies.
